With the power of niacinamide (10%) and zinc PCA (1%), this concentrated serum is a multi-functional solution that fights diverse types of skin irritations, including rashes, redness, and early aging signs. This product is suitable for individuals experiencing issues like pigmentation, acne, rosacea, or skin insufficiency. The serum utilizes glycerin and hyaluronic acid to boost its formulation. Those with acne-prone, pigmented, or reddened skin can use this serum, which is appropriate for all skin types.
    Description

The combination of niacinamide (10%) and zinc PCA (1%) in this multi-functional serum serve multiple purposes such as acne, pigmentation, redness, and aging. Reducing transepidermal water loss and having anti-inflammatory properties are the two ways niacinamide (Vitamin B3) helps to increase skin moisture levels. Additionally, it increases the creation of significant epidermal proteins such as keratin, filaggrin, and involucrin [1-3]. Zinc PCA (L-pyrrolidone carboxylate zinc salt) has antifungal, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties that make it a perfect ingredient for conditions like acne or seborrheic dermatitis [4-6]. To reduce premature aging wrinkles, minimize skin irritations, promote wound healing, and moisturize the skin, the formula has hyaluronic acid, which has high biocompatibility with human skin [7]. This serum is suitable for all skin types and conditions, including acne, rosacea, pigmentation, or early signs of aging, leaving the skin hydrated and clear with regular use.

    Scientific validity

Melanosomes are vesicles that transport skin pigment from melanocytes to keratinocytes, and niacinamide can impede this transfer [8]. This property makes it an ideal ingredient for pigmented skin. This powerful active ingredient has anti-inflammatory properties that suppress chemokines released during colonization by P. acne bacteria [2], making it a powerful active ingredient for acne-prone skin. Moreover, niacinamide boosts epidermal protein synthesis and prevents glycation. Yellow skin occurs when glycation happens due to protein and sugar combining. By preventing glycation, niacinamide can prevent skin redness [9]. Skin damaged by rosacea, acne, dermatitis, or psoriasis can be improved by this ingredient [10]. Zinc PCA can prevent the formation of metalloproteinase-1, an enzyme that degrades collagen, induced by UVA, and can increase collagen production, making it a good ingredient to resist pigmentation and photoaging [11]. It is appropriate for treating skin conditions like seborrheic dermatitis or acne due to its antifungal, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties [4-6]. Combat premature aging, aid wound healing, soothe skin irritations, and hydrate skin with the highly biocompatible hyaluronic acid in the product [7].

    Active ingredients

    Hyaluronic acid (INCI: SODIUM HYALURONATE)

Sodium hyaluronate is also recognized as hyaluronic acid and naturally present in the human body. Its role is crucial in different tissues like the skin and connective tissues. Retaining water is one of its key functions, this leads to soft and smooth skin. Aging decreases hyaluronic acid production, leading to less elasticity and more wrinkles. Many face masks and eye creams contain hyaluronic acid as an active ingredient to keep the skin looking smoother for longer. One of the main functions of hyaluronic acid is to bind water in the top layer of skin cells, retaining moisture and reducing wrinkles. [13].

    Niacinamide (INCI: NIACINAMIDE)

Niacinamide, a form of vitamin B3, has many benefits for the skin. It helps to visibly reduce enlarged pores, improve skin tone, reduce the depth of wrinkles, and strengthen the skin's protective barrier. Niacinamide can also help reduce skin damage caused by negative environmental factors and fight various skin problems such as acne and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

    Zinc PCA (INCI: ZINC PCA)

It is a component utilized in skincare for conditioning the skin. Inhibiting destructive enzymes is how Zinc PCA, a skincare derivative of zinc, counters the aging process [16].

    Glycerin (INCI: GLYCERIN)

It has high skin tolerance and effectiveness, making it an excellent choice in cosmetic products. A high-viscosity, odorless liquid that can dissolve in water and other alcohols. Glycerin is essential for maintaining skin hydration as it is a natural part of the hydrolipid mantle of the skin. Thanks to its humectant properties, glycerin has become an incredibly popular ingredient in almost all skin care formulations, drawing moisture to the skin and improving overall hydration. Moreover, it has a high degree of skin tolerance and effectiveness. Shampoos and conditioners also use glycerin to improve hair texture while keeping it moisturized.

    FAQ

What are the skin benefits of niacinamide?

In various skin issues, niacinamide can minimize redness by reducing inflammation. Niacinamide can additionally decrease the visibility of pores.

Which is better: vitamin C or niacinamide?

Although sharing certain similarities, Vitamin C and niacinamide have specific skin benefits. Although vitamin C's skin-brightening effect could be faster than niacinamide, it varies based on the chemical form. Niacinamide has dual benefits, it brightens and hydrates the skin while reducing inflammation.

Can I use Moon Cosmetics Niacinamide Serum every day?

Yes, the niacinamide serum is intended for daily use, as it contains enriched active components that can nourish and improve the appearance of problematic, pigmented, or aging skin.

Is it true that vitamin C and niacinamide should not be used? Niacin production and skin redness may result from mixing niacinamide and vitamin C, particularly unstable ascorbic acid. The stable version of vitamin C, ethyl ascorbic acid, should not be combined with niacinamide as their pH levels differ.

Do I have to apply a cream after the serum?

When using water-based serums, which don't contain oil, it's good to follow-up with cream to boost moisture. Water-based serums benefit from applying facial cream afterward, as this has a thickened texture and specialized ingredients designed to lock in skin moisture, resulting in greater absorption of serum's active components.
